8 of the best baby body lotions 2024
DO YOU NEED A BABY BODY LOTION?
Baby body lotions can be used for a relaxing massage or if your baby has dry skin. Some can also help to soothe the irritation of eczema-prone skin. You could also use a natural oil like coconut oil. But they are by no means essential when you have a baby.
When can you start using baby lotion?
According to the NHS, it’s best to avoid lotions and oil for the first month of a newborn’s life. This gives your baby’s skin time to develop naturally and using anything before this can result in an allergic reaction or eczema. If your baby’s skin is very dry in these early days, talk to your midwife or health visitor.
Can you put baby lotion on a baby’s face?
Most baby lotions have a very gentle formulation which can be used anywhere on the body but just make sure you avoid the eyes. There are some that are specially designed to be facial moisturisers.
